renewables & onsite generation

Generate your own electricity and reduce your costs

Put simply, sunlight is converted into DC (Direct Current) electricity using semiconducting materials that exhibit the photovoltaic effect (photovoltaic cells - PV). This is then converted into the AC electricity used in buildings.

PVs are reliable, low maintenance and silent. They are an efficient source of zero carbon electricity for new build and refurbishment projects and therefore a proven and reliable technology for improving energy efficiency

Solar PV still generates electricity even if the sky is overcast because the cells do not only use direct sunlight but also diffuse solar radiation, this being light in the atmosphere. You can still have an electricity supply on days without sun.

By installing renewable electricity-generating technology, you could benefit from the UK government’s Feed-in Tariff (FiT) scheme by being paid for the electricity you generate (generation tariff) even if you use all of it in addition to any surplus electricity that is exported to the grid (export tariff). Furthermore, there will also be a significant saving against your ongoing power bills because your will be generating and using a proportion of your overall power demand.
